Communication from Assemblymember Marty Block Regarding SDSU Enrollment

Dear Friend: 

 

Recently, SDSU President Stephen Weber announced the suspension of the undergraduate policy that guaranteed enrollment to students who reside in the SDSU “in service area.”   As chair of the Select Committee on K-16 Articulation, Access and Affordability, I have called a hearing to examine this issue in detail and to accept testimony on the merits of this policy change.   I am eager to hear the views of experts in the field and community stakeholders on just how this policy will affect not only our current San Diego area High School and Community College students; but also how it will affect the future plans of all our students and their families who are dedicated to helping their children attain a quality, accessible and affordable college education.  

I have convened the hearing at the date and location below and invite you to attend:

In response to the City budget crisis, Councilmember Tony Young (who is also Chairman of the City Council Budget and Finance Committee) has announced a series of meetings open to the public, as well as an online survey and hotline phone number where you can provide your suggestions and recommendations on city budget priorities.

Prepare for Cuts to Our Water Supply!

Mayor Jerry Sanders has added an additional workshop session to help San Diego residents prepare for potential cuts to our water supply, as well as to discuss how water allocations for City water customers are being developed. The workshop is part of the Mayor's continuing effort to raise awareness about the City's water supply crisis and the need to increase water conservation throughout the city, as water wholesalers may cut supplies to the San Diego region as much as 20% in the next few months.
