Was this the most spectacular holiday season in Rolando Park to date? What a great display of holiday cheer by so many residents who decorated their homes in celebration! Thank you to all who worked so hard to share in the celebration! As mentioned in the last Reporter, two businesses in Rolando Park graciously donated gift certificates to celebrate the holidays in our community by sponsoring our first annual “Rolando Park after Dark” lighting contest. The Rolando Park Community Council would like to thank Stockdale’s Fine Southern Cuisine and The Dollar Tree store for their support and donations in our community. Both businesses are located on University Avenue across Aragon Drive from the Kroc Center. Let’s all say thanks by visiting these new businesses in the New Year!
As for the contest…
The Rolando Park Community Council, and a handful of helpful residents, nominated homes which they thought did an exemplary job in decorating for the holidays. The categories used to determine the winners were: Best Overall, Best Display of Color, Most Original, Best Holiday Theme and Best Use of Lighting.
Drum roll, please…
Grand Prize Winner of $50 Gift Certificate from The Dollar Tree Store:
4035 College Avenue for Best Overall
Runner Up Prize Winners of $25 Gift Certificate from Stockdale’s Fine Cuisine:
6826 Missy Court for Most Original
3978 Casita Way for Best Use of Lighting
3638 Aragon Drive for Best Holiday Theme
4101 Loma Alta for Best Use of Color
Of course, there are many honorable mentions to be made: 3742 Aragon, 4071 Vista Grande, 3903 Loma Alta, 3915 Loma Alta, and many more. This year’s prizes will be presented to the winners at the January community council meeting. So many great homes made the contest a close call, and a very difficult contest to judge. Be ready for next year, as there are already plans to expand the criteria and prize list.
Happy Holidays!!!
